Where To Go On Holiday In Cyprus
The South coast of the country is a great place to go on holiday with the children, with its pretty coastal towns and rich history. Larnaca lays claim to being the oldest city in Cyprus, and evidence of its long past is clear to see in its old city. Near by is the Larnaca Salt Lake where in the winter months flamingos flock in their droves and in the summer is a beautiful area to simply watch wildlife and relax. Further down the coast is Limassol with its old town, castle and beaches. Another popular option for a family break is to head to Paphos. The Aphrodite Water Park and Paphos Bird Park will keep the kids entertained, and for the adults the Odeon Greek amphitheatre, the Paphos Fort and the Tombs of the Kings offer a glimpse into the country’s past. Take a stroll around the nearby traditional village of Tala and explore the monastery, and enjoy the vast range of restaurants on offer – a chance to sit back and soak up the atmosphere.
If you’re after a slower pace then the resort of Coral Bay provides holiday makers with the chance to enjoy its beautiful sweeping beach whilst sipping a cocktail from one of the many beach bars. On those days where you’re feeling a little more adventurous why not try your hand at one of the many water sports on offer.
Off the beaten track the country’s capital, Nicosia, is based inland and offers the chance to explore a side of Cyprus that many holiday makers ignore, with its Old City scattered with museums and churches.
For those in search of sun, sea, sand and clubbing, then head straight to the town of Ayia Napa, famed for its pulsating nightlife. By day kick back on one of the areas many stunning beaches, and by night work your way through the raft of nightclubs and bars and make yourself a part of the scene!
