Switzerland – home of fantastic skiing, incredible natural beauty and of course, fantastic cheese! If you’re after a slice of the great outdoors then look no further.

Geneva makes for a great get away with its quaint old town. Highlights include the majestic Jet d'Eau on Lake Geneva, the Palais des nations and catching the Téléphérique du Salève cable car across the French border to take in commanding views of Mt. Blanc and Lake Geneva. The city is fantastic to explore by bicycle, by boat or by foot.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site and capital city of Bern lies in the centre of the country and is easily accessible from other destinations. The city has a strong connection with bears and these can be viewed at the Bear Pits. Other attractions include the Museum of Fine Arts, Albert Einstein’s house and swimming in the River Aare on a hot summer’s day.

For a metropolitan break the city of Zurich has plenty to offer, from bars to restaurants and the largest number of clubs per capita in Europe. Views over the city are obtained by catching the Polybahn funicular, and once at the top you can enjoy a drink on the terrace. Zurich is packed full of tourist attractions including the Kunsthaus art museum, Lake Promenade, the tranquil Chinese garden and even a zoo so you won’t be short on ideas to fill your time.

Hiking is a staple activity in Switzerland and there are a number of destinations to enjoy breathtaking views and wildlife. Particularly popular are the Thal Nature Park, Valais, Ticino and Engadine. Skiing is yet another popular pastime and there are countless ski resorts to choose from. Some of the best options can be found at Gstaad, Verbier, Zermatt and Mürren.
